Rollover Safety Vent

A ball; a seat and a very good afternoon you never have to think about. Every fuel tank has to breathe. Pull fuel out without letting air in and the tank collapses on itself; heat it in the sun with no vent and it pushes fuel out of the first seal it finds. So you leave a vent open. Which is fine right up until the truck is on its roof and that same open port is pouring fuel onto hot exhaust. This is the part that decides which of those two things happens. A simple ball check valve: upright it vents freely; inverted the ball drops onto its seat and blocks the port. No electronics; no maintenance; nothing to fail quietly. There is a float inside as well; doing the unglamorous daily job - cutting down how much liquid gets pushed into the vent hose from slosh when the tank is full and the road is rough. 1/2 inch NPT thread; 5/16 inch hose barb. Thirty one dollars against the one scenario nobody plans for.

  • Seals if the truck goes over - the ball drops onto its seat and blocks the vent port before fuel can pour out.
  • Still vents normally - air moves in and out as the tank draws down and heats up; no vacuum collapse.
  • Anti splash when full - the internal float cuts how much liquid gets pushed into the vent hose on a rough road.
  • Nothing to maintain - a mechanical check valve with no electronics and no service interval.
  • Standard fittings - 1/2 inch NPT into the tank and a 5/16 inch barb out to the hose.

Install Level: Beginner - thread into the tank vent port and connect a hose
