Rear Dropmember Kit | 1953-56 Ford F100

They locate the axle and they carry the load; and doing both means doing neither well. Add a modern engine and the axle starts moving under power. This PorterBuilt rear dropmember replaces all of it: dropmember; frame rails; crossmembers; 4-link control arms; bed mounts; suspension bridge; shock relocation brackets; a Watts link and the hardware. It bolts in and instructions come in the package. Choose Falcon coilovers at Level 1 for a 1-2 inch drop with no bed work; Level 2 at 4-6 inch which does need the bed modified; or the Firestone F900 airbag and shock kit at Level 3 which drops the truck onto the running boards when you park it. Wilwood rotors and calipers at 12; 13 or 14 inch finish it. Match the rotor to the wheel you are running; the larger rotor is there to shed the heat a heavy truck makes on a hard stop. One thing to settle before you order: the included parts list on this record also names a Ford 9 inch third member with 31 spline axles and 3.50 gears; and the description does not. Ask which applies to the variant you are buying.

Stopping Power
The more horsepower you run, the bigger your brakes should be. If you are going to autocross your truck, then bigger is definitely better. The larger diameter rotor is better and dissipating the extreme heat experienced in racing.
