Ford used plastic. It made sense at the time. It does not hold up over fifty years of heat cycles; door slams; and daily use. And when it fails you are left hunting through used parts bins or settling for something that almost fits. We got tired of almost. These bezels are billet aluminum; machined to fit the same way the OEM piece did - clean install; no modification; no fuss. This is the part that should have existed all along.
