1978-79 Ford Bronco Non-EFI Fuel Tank

Twenty gallons of aluminum. The tank comes out of the cab. Every 78-79 Bronco owner knows that smell. A steel tank aging behind the seat; a seam that weeps on a hot afternoon; fumes riding along with you and the dog. This one puts the fuel where it belongs. Built to order in 1/8 inch 5052-H32 aluminum; three internal baffles; mount tabs welded up from 3 x 3 x 3/16 angle in two places. It goes in the factory rear location. It is a carbureted tank today. The pick up tube adapter feeds a mechanical pump; the rollover valve handles the venting. The flange and the baffling are the same ones the EFI tank uses; so when the Coyote or the Sniper finally shows up you drop a Stealth 340 into this tank instead of buying another one. Built to order; plan on four to six weeks. That is the real number; not a shipping estimate that slips.

  • The tank leaves the cab - it mounts in the factory rear location so the fuel and the fumes stop riding behind the seat.
  • Three baffles - fuel stays over the pick up on a side hill and under hard throttle instead of sloshing away from it.
  • Carbureted now; EFI later - the flange and baffling match the EFI tank so a Stealth 340 drops in when the swap happens.
  • 1/8 inch 5052-H32 aluminum - a marine grade alloy that will not rust from the inside out like the steel tank you are removing.
  • Rollover valve included - a ball check that vents normally and blocks the port if the truck ends up on its lid.

Bed Fill: Standard bed fill tank with cap. The standard bed fill tank will come with a threaded cap and neck as shown in the pictures which sticks up approx. 3” and sits just below the bed floor. This will require you to have a bed fuel door.

Fuel Level Sensor: We recommend one of two sending units to fit your needs; A 0-90 OHM fuel level sensor for aftermarket gauges or a 75-10 OHM fuel level sensor if you are using stock gauges with our Coyote Swap tanks.

Rollover Safety Vent: We also include the rollover safety vent, which is a simple ball check valve that allows air in and out of the tank as needed. In the event of a rollover, the ball will drop and block the vent port from leaking fuel. Additionally, it also has a small float inside that will help reduce the amount of liquid entering the vent hose from fuel slosh during normal everyday use.
