Every NPT thread on an air system is a future leak. Tapered pipe threads seal on interference; not on a gasket. Metal on metal; cut by a tap; tightened by feel. Leave them bare and you will spend a Saturday with a spray bottle chasing a bubble that moves every time you touch a wrench. Loctite 565 is the thread sealant the air suspension trade settled on.
