Vent Glass Setting Tape | Chevy 1955-72

Two strips. Thirty inches each. The part nobody orders. Setting tape is what sits between the vent glass and the metal channel it lives in. Leave it out and the glass chatters at every seam; the edge chips at the pivot corner and the pane you just paid for cracks in a year. Precision supplies two pieces at 30 inch long; 1 inch wide and 1/16 inch thick - enough to bed the vent glass in both frames. It cushions and it seals. The glass sits centred in the channel instead of riding metal to metal; and water that gets past the vent seal has nowhere to sit against bare steel. Cheap; small and the one thing you will wish you had on the bench when the frame is already apart.

  • Stops the chatter - glass bedded in tape does not ring against the channel over every seam.
  • Saves the pane - most vent glass cracks start at a corner that was set dry on bare metal.
  • Enough for both frames - two 30 inch strips; driver and passenger in one order.
  • Keeps water off steel - the tape blocks the capillary path into the bottom of the channel.
  • Spans 1955 through 1972 - one part number across four cab generations.
