Body first. Then the glass. Then the strip. There are two ways a windshield gasket goes into a truck and picking the wrong one costs you a day. The rope-in seals set on the glass and get pulled into the opening. This one does not. It seats in the body opening on its own; the glass goes in after; the lockstrip locks it all down. That is the 1977-1979 arrangement and it is why this seal has a groove machined into the section. Ozone resistant EPDM to the same OE specs as the original; the profile is what makes the chrome sit flat instead of proud. A windshield that seals is not about comfort. Water that gets past the gasket runs down the cowl and sits in the corners of the floor where you cannot see it until it is a hole. The lockstrip is a separate part. Have it on the bench before the glass goes in.

  • Correct method for the year - the 1977-1979 cab takes a body-first grooved seal; not a rope-in gasket.
