A worn electrode rarely fails outright; it just quietly takes the crisp edge off the throttle and you get used to it. Iridium IX runs a fine iridium center electrode. A smaller tip concentrates the spark and lights the charge more completely; which is what you feel as cleaner ignition and better acceleration. NGK rates them at 40;000 to 50;000 miles. Eight in the box; a full V8 in one order. They arrive pre-gapped for general use. Set the gap for your engine before they go in - a boosted or swapped combination rarely wants the generic number.
