The full modernization step for a Ford 289 or 302 — a DIS controller that converts a distributor engine to coil-per-plug, with programmable 2D and 3D timing maps, a built-in 2.5 bar MAP sensor, and 8 MB of onboard data logging.
A distributor is a wear item and a compromise. Going coil-per-plug removes both. Cap and rotor wear disappear, and spark energy stops getting lost down long plug wires because each coil sits at its plug. What you gain is real control over ignition tuning.
The tuning depth is the point. Fully programmable 2D and 3D timing maps, with preprogrammed maps to start from. Individual Cylinder Timing lets you trim each cylinder. A 2.5 bar MAP sensor covers naturally aspirated and boosted combinations, with optional temperature sensor input. Programmable max rev and launch limiters, plus a step retard for nitrous.
Everything runs through MSDView over a mini-USB port, with 8 MB of internal storage for monitoring and logging. Electronics are fully potted and connectors sealed. This is an advanced conversion — wiring, sensor setup, software tuning — and professional installation is worth considering.
