That is the point at noon and it is the problem at ten at night on a two lane road; when the dash is burning a hole in your night vision and your factory dimmer switch does nothing at all. It does nothing because the stock dimming circuit was built for incandescent bulbs and a rheostat. The digital system ignores it entirely. The dimming feature is already built into your instrument system; it just has no control to listen to. The DIM-1 is that control. An aluminum knob and bezel that mounts in a .570 inch hole and gives you live brightness adjustment on VFD3/RET; VHX; HDX and RTX systems. Forty dollars and a drill bit. It is the difference between a dash you glance at and one you squint past.
