Coyote Swap Mount Kit for 1977–79 Ford 4WD Trucks

Single cab. Four wheel drive. Modern power without moving the steering box. The 1977-79 trucks are the sweet spot for a Coyote and the hardest part is everything around the engine - the steering box on the driver side; the transfer case looking for a crossmember; the driveline angle that has to end up right the first time. These mounts put the Coyote in the factory location and leave the power steering box where Ford put it. The transmission crossmember for the 6R80 and 10R80 comes in the kit along with the hardware and the templates. Some drilling into the factory crossmember is required. With the templates most builders have the mounts located and the engine sitting in a few hours. It ships raw so the finish is your call. Headers are the one thing to plan around; the steering box sits close and custom tubes are often part of the job.

  • Factory engine location - the Coyote sits where the power steering box can stay put.
  • Transmission crossmember included - sized for the 6R80 and the 10R80 so the automatic has a home on day one.
  • Templates do the layout - the drilling into the factory crossmember is marked out instead of measured twice and drilled wrong.
  • Hardware in the box - the fasteners for the mounts and the crossmember come with the kit.
  • Raw steel - paint or powder coat to match your chassis rather than living with someone else finish.

Install Level: Advanced

Ships in raw steel. Headers are not included and may need to be custom.
Crew cab trucks use the 1973-79 crew cab kit instead.

Upgrade your 1977–79 Ford F100, F150, or F250 single-cab 4X4 to run a modern Ford Coyote motor from a Mustang GT or F150 truck. Designed to fit the 2011–2023+ Coyote, this kit places the engine into your truck while retaining the factory suspension and power steering box. The package includes the transmission crossmember for the 6R80 and 10R80 automatic transmissions.

The engine mounts position the motor in the factory location, leaving clearance for the power steering box. Due to steering box placement, custom headers may be required.

The kit includes all necessary hardware and templates. Some drilling is required into the factory crossmember, but installation can typically be completed in a few hours. Product photos show powder-coated components, but kits ship in raw steel.
