Ninety degrees that points where you want it. A fixed elbow lands where the thread stops. You tighten the taper; the outlet finishes facing the frame rail and now you are choosing between a sealed thread and a sensible line route. A swivel elbow separates the two. Seal the 1/2 inch NPT taper properly; then turn the tube end to wherever the line wants to go. That is the difference between a tidy loom under a bed floor and a run that fights you the whole way. 1/2 inch NPT on the thread side; 3/8 inch DOT push-to-connect on the line side. Seal the thread. Leave the push-to-connect end dry.
