Collaborating with you.

A great chassis demands performance, adjustability, and driveability. Over the years, PB has tested and continuously improved the design of their chassis components. Other chassis builders simply design and move on, never taking the opportunity to improve on an already great foundation.

Thorough Testing

We know these trucks inside and out, and each part is designed and built with the factory tolerances in mind. Thorough testing over the last 16 years has allowed Porterbuilt to refine components and design of the chassis to be the most modular chassis on the market. Geometry, fitment, and a proprietary process means your Porterbuilt Chassis from Fat Fender will provide everything you are looking for, and more.

Ride Height and Suspension

What suspension and ride height are you looking for?
Level 1 (Coilover, 1-2" Drop)

Elevate your comfort and style with our Level 1 Coilover Suspension package. Experience a smoother ride with a subtle ride height adjustment, keeping your vehicle's classic charm intact. No alterations are made, preserving the original design, ensuring a seamless fit for Revival Series editions.

(Rear wheel openings will not be modified, and therefore, any Revival Series edition on a Level 1 chassis will be limited to widths on rear wheels.)

Level 2 (Coilover, 4-6" Drop)

Enhance with our Level 2 package, lowering the ride height and making precision modifications to the bed floor. This customization offers a sleek appearance and the option to widen rear wheel openings while retaining the choice of a wood or metal bed floor for a personalized touch. Overall stance will maintain roughly 4" to 6" of ground clearance at the rocker panel, and rear wheel openings can be modified up to 12" wide.

(All Revival Series with a level 2 ride height will be constructed with a wood bed including those model years that originally come with metal beds, which are available upon request.)

Level 3 (Airride, Slammed)

Experience luxury and style with our Level 3 package, featuring an adjustable ride height that allows you to lay the chassis on the ground when air bags deflate for ultimate customization. Choose between wood or metal bed floors, and enjoy a lowered cruising height with a ground clearance of 4" to 5" at the rocker panel. Level 3 bed floors will also be finished with a flat panel seen when the tailgate is down.

(Bed floor modifications will be static and do not include the ability to open and close the floor. Available on request.)

Frequently Asked Questions

Learn about our Chassis options
How much money do I need upfront to get started?

We require a 50% deposit to get started, and the remaining 50% once the chassis is complete. If FFG is providing a drivetrain, that payment can be staggered up to 60 days after deposit is received.

Can you help facilitate shipping and transportation?

While we do not provide shipping, we are happy to help facilitate pick up/travel and put you in touch with the right transport company.

Can I provide my own motor and transmission?

You bet! We are happy to take your crate motor/transmission and install it in the frame, you will just need to have it shipped down to us for installation.

What is the standard lead time for a chassis package?

Varies depending on options, however the average chassis takes 12 weeks in production, and 4 weeks for final assembly. (Depending on powdercoat, drivetrain, brake/fuel lines, etc.)

Does the chassis line up with the body? Are the cab mounts in the same location as factory?

Absolutely, the cab mounts on the chassis are in the same location as factory. They are fully bolt-on, incase your cab isn't square and the mounts need to be adjusted for perfect fitment.

What is the width of the rear axle?

We have options for 56" and 60" rear axles (2WD), depending on the wheels/tires you would like to use. For 4WD packages, we typically use a 66" front & rear axle.

What ride heights do you currently have available?

We currently have 3 different ride height options for our 2WD frames:

  • Level 1 (Coilovers) : 1-2" drop from stock ride height
  • Level 2 (Coilovers): 4-6" drop from stock ride height (requires bed modifications)
  • Level 3 (Airbags): Lays frame (requires bed modifications)
Are frames capable of highway cruising?

Absolutely, our frames are designed for daily driving/highway cruising as opposed to track racing, etc.

What drivetrain options do you have available?

We standardly use the 5.0 Coyote (Ford), 7.3L Godzilla (Ford), LS3 (Chevy), and LT4 (Chevy). Any other drivetrain will be handled as a case-by-case basis, unless we have any historical data available.

Are the Falcon Coilovers adjustable?

They are adjustable 1-2" coilovers, rated to 900 lbs.

What brand of mufflers do we recommend?

We typically use Magnaflow for our 5.0 Coyote builds, but have several options available.

Does the frame/drivetrain include a warranty?

You bet, both the frame and drivetrain are covered by manufacturer warranty, and FFG labor warranty.

Can you start the engine in your fully loaded chassis before it ships?

Absolutely, we can start your motor when installed in the chassis before it ships. A final tune will be required for the best drive once the build is completed.

When supercharging a Coyote, what size pulley do you use?

We typically use a 3.75" pulley when using a 3.0L Whipple Supercharger, but have more options available based on application.

How much of a lift does your 4WD chassis give the truck?

Our 4WD chassis typically provide a 4-6" lift from factory ride height, depending on wheel/tire selections.

Will you sell the chassis without brakes or suspension?

You bet, we are able to sell our 2WD chassis packages without brakes or suspension, although it is recommended they are sourced from FFG for the best compatibility.
