The gear is a pressed fit; the shaft has to be cross-drilled; and the height has to land exactly right. This one arrives with the steel gear installed and set - Melonized QPQ coated and ready for hydraulic roller camshafts. The reason to care is what happens when the pairing is wrong. MSD is blunt about it: matching gear material to cam material prevents premature failure of the cam or the gear; and that failure can lead to engine damage. The rest is Pro-Billet hardware; with weight pins staked and TIG welded so settings stay put.
Install Level: Intermediate - distributor swap; timing must be set
