GSS-3000

The brain got smaller. The install got easier. A gear position sender reads the detent your shift lever is actually sitting in and tells the rest of the truck about it. Without one; a swapped automatic behind a modern dash leaves you guessing at the lever and wiring the reverse lights by hand. The GSS-3000 is the current generation. Dakota Digital shrank the decoder and moved the terminals inboard; so it tucks in where the old GSS-1000 and GSS-2000 would not. It will talk to a VFD; VHX; HDX or RTX cluster or to a DGS standalone indicator; or it will run entirely on its own driving reverse lights to 15 amps and a neutral safety relay that keeps the starter honest. Calibration is done at the lever. Two to four forward detents plus Park; Reverse and Neutral; taught in one pass. Mounting hardware for TH350; TH400; 700R4; 4L60/70/80; Ford C-4 and C-6 is in the box; and everything else gets the universal bracket.

  • Smaller decoder; easier fit - the current generation shrank the brain and moved the terminals inboard so it tucks in where the old units would not.
  • Runs standalone or networked - feed a VFD; VHX; HDX or RTX cluster; a DGS indicator; or nothing at all.
  • Reverse lights built in - an output rated to 15 amps drives the lamps directly.
  • Neutral safety handled - the supplied 30 amp relay keeps the starter from cranking in gear.
  • Hardware for the common boxes - TH350; TH400; 700R4; 4L60/70/80; Ford C-4 and C-6 are covered; everything else gets the universal bracket.

The GSS-3000 is a new generation of gear-shift (detent) position system from Dakota Digital. We’ve minimized the decoder (the brain of the system), and the new, smaller size with inboard terminals allows for easier installation. Able to be used with a Dakota Digital instrument system or on its own, this versatile unit can relay transmission gear position to a VFD, VHX, HDX or RTX instrument system, as well as the DGS-series of standalone indicators.
