Flying Magnet Crank Trigger Kit — Small Block Ford Windsor 289/302/351W

$623.95

Flying Magnet crank trigger kit for small block Ford Windsor 289, 302 and 351W engines. Four magnets in a billet wheel read timing at the crank instead of the distributor drive.

  • Timing read at the crank - removes the slop in the distributor drive.
  • Four embedded magnets - a 4X trigger signal off a billet wheel.
  • Cannot be false triggered - MSD's stated advantage of the non-magnetic pickup.
  • Compact sensor - 3/4 x 2.25 inches for a crowded front of engine.
  • Brackets included - no fabricating a mount from scratch.

Install Level: Advanced

Emission Code 4, racing use only.
Requires an MSD 6, 7 or 8 Series ignition, sold separately.
Requires a distributor with the advance locked out or no advance assembly.

Read timing at the crank. Stop chasing scatter.

A Flying Magnet crank trigger kit for small block Ford Windsor engines — 289, 302, and 351W — using four magnets embedded in a 6.562-inch billet aluminum wheel to deliver a 4X trigger signal straight off the crankshaft. Brackets and hardware included.

Racers figured this out a long time ago: one of the best things you can do for an engine is stabilize the ignition timing. Reading it at the crankshaft instead of through the distributor drive removes the slop in between. MSD calls the Flying Magnet system absolutely the most accurate way to trigger the ignition.

The design is what makes it dependable. Four powerful magnets are embedded in a billet aluminum trigger wheel, 6.562 inches in diameter and 3/8 inch wide, passing a stationary non-magnetic pickup. MSD states that pickup cannot be false triggered. The sensor measures 3/4 by 2.25 inches, compact enough for a crowded front of engine.

The kit includes special brackets and mounting hardware, so bracket work is not left to you. Designed for MSD 6, 7, and 8 Series ignitions, in black. Be clear on one thing before ordering: MSD lists this kit as Emission Code 4, racing use only.
