Dial the curve with a screwdriver. Not a spring kit.
A Ready-to-Run Pro-Billet distributor for Ford 289 and 302 with MSD's E-Curve electronic advance — programmed with two rotary switches under the cap, per MSD's instruction sheet. Steel gear installed, no ignition box required.
The E-Curve is the reason to buy this one. Per MSD's instruction sheet for the 85031, you program an electronic timing advance curve by adjusting two rotary switches under the distributor cap. No spring kit, no bench time, no pulling it apart to change your mind.
The numbers come from that same sheet. Total timing change achievable is 34 degrees — 25 from the electronic advance, with an additional 9 available with vacuum. The rev limiter is adjustable from 5,000 to 10,000 rpm by a rotary dial under the cap and rotor.
Underneath, it is Pro-Billet Ready-to-Run hardware with the Ford gear problem already solved. The steel gear is Melonized QPQ coated and installed, sparing you the pressed fit, the cross-drilling, and the gear-height setting. No ignition box required, so spark control stays inside the CNC machined billet housing.
What's In the Box
The distributor and what ships with it:
- x1 Pro-Billet Ready-to-Run Distributor — E-Curve Electronic Advance, CNC Billet Housing
- x1 Distributor Cap — listed red in the spec table
- x1 Rotor
- x1 Steel Gear, Melonized QPQ Coated, Installed
- Not included: ignition coil
- Fits: Ford 289 / 302 small block V8. Requires: no MSD ignition control.
- Advance: E-Curve electronic, set by two rotary switches under the cap. 34 degrees total — 25 electronic plus 9 with vacuum, per MSD's instruction sheet.
- Rev Limiter: Adjustable 5,000–10,000 rpm by rotary dial under the cap.
- Gear: Steel, Melonized QPQ — for hydraulic roller cams. A flat tappet cam needs a different gear.
- Emissions: Code 3 — non-emissions-controlled vehicles only. Prop 65 warning.
